Courier routing software for delivery teams

EfiRoute is courier routing software that plans every courier's day in a single run: import the stops, pick the couriers on shift, and the Google Cloud Route Optimization API returns a balanced, sequenced route for each one — then pushes it to their phone with navigation, live GPS tracking, proof of delivery and cash-collection recording. It is free to start with no credit card, then $29/month (Pro) or $49/month (Business) plus $1 per courier per optimization run. There are no per-driver fees and stops are never metered.

Courier dispatch has two problems, not one: deciding who takes which stops, and deciding what order each courier drives them in. Navigation apps solve neither — they follow the order you type and stop at about ten waypoints. Spreadsheets and local knowledge solve them badly, and only for as long as the same person does the planning. Courier routing software solves both at once, every morning, in seconds.

What courier routing software has to do

Multi-courier routing in one run

Upload the day's stops and EfiRoute splits them across every available courier at once — balanced by distance, time windows, shift length and service time per stop. Not one route at a time: the whole board in a single optimization run, on the Google Cloud Route Optimization API.

Courier selection and assignment

Decide who gets the work. Couriers join a project by invite link or apply to it, and you pick who is assigned before the run — then the optimizer only plans around the couriers you actually selected. Add a stand-in for one day without paying for a seat all month.

Courier app with turn-by-turn navigation

Each courier gets their own sorted route on iOS or Android: stop-by-stop navigation, customer notes and phone number, and one-tap status updates per stop. There is a native Apple Watch and Wear OS app too, so a rider on a scooter does not have to unlock a phone at every stop.

Live GPS tracking for dispatch

Every courier on one map in real time, with planned-versus-actual arrival per stop. Customers get a tracking link, so "where is my delivery?" calls stop reaching the dispatcher.

Proof of delivery and cash collection

Photo and signature proof on every stop, plus cash or card collection recorded against the stop in the courier's own currency — with a correction trail if an amount has to be fixed later.

Dispatcher-to-courier chat with voice notes

Built in, not an add-on: push-to-talk voice notes and text between dispatch and every courier, so route changes do not happen over private WhatsApp threads nobody else can see.

How a delivery morning runs on EfiRoute

  1. 1. Import the day's stopsDrop in an Excel or CSV file — addresses are geocoded automatically — or add customers one by one. Time windows, service duration, products and payment method per stop come along with them.
  2. 2. Pick the couriers working todaySelect who is on shift from your courier list. Each one can have their own start point, working hours and vehicle capacity, so a van and a cargo bike are not planned the same way.
  3. 3. Run the optimizationOne click. Seconds later every selected courier has a balanced, sequenced route that respects the day's constraints — and a loading list in route order for whoever packs the vehicles.
  4. 4. Dispatch, track, proveRoutes push to the courier app, couriers appear live on the map, customers get tracking links, and proof of delivery plus collected cash land back in your reports as the day runs.

Most teams get their first optimized multi-courier route out within an hour of signing up — there is no implementation call and no onboarding fee.

Courier routing software pricing

Courier routing is normally sold per driver ($25–89 per courier per month) or in monthly stop packages ($125–$1,000). EfiRoute charges for the optimization run instead, so an idle week costs almost nothing and a busy week does not push you into a higher tier.

PlanPriceWhat is included per project
Free$0 forever — no credit card3 projects/month, 2 couriers per project, $5 optimization credit
Pro$29 / month + $1 per courier per runUp to 10 couriers and 500 stops per project, $29 monthly credit
Business$49 / month + $1 per courier per runUp to 25 couriers and 1,000 stops per project, $49 monthly credit

What it costs against per-driver pricing

Your operationTypical per-driver tool ($39/courier)EfiRoute (Pro)
3 couriers, planned 3× per week3 × $39 = $117 / month$29 + 3 × 12 × $1 − $29 credit = $36 / month
5 couriers, planned every weekday5 × $39 = $195 / month$29 + 5 × 22 × $1 − $29 credit = $110 / month
5 couriers, planned weekly5 × $39 = $195 / month5 × 4 × $1 = $20 of runs — inside the $29 credit, so $29 / month
10 couriers, planned every weekday10 × $39 = $390 / month$29 + 10 × 22 × $1 − $29 credit = $220 / month

Per-driver figures use $39 per courier per month, the monthly-billing rate published by OptimoRoute as of October 2026; competitor prices change, so confirm on the vendor's own site. EfiRoute figures assume one optimization run per weekday (22 per month) with the monthly credit applied first.

Where EfiRoute fits against the other courier routing tools

Honest version: if you need deep recurring-shift scheduling, OptimoRoute is stronger; at a stable 1,000+ orders a month the per-order tiers of Routific and Circuit for Teams become competitive; and a single courier planning their own route is better served by a $29/month solo app. EfiRoute is built for the case in between — two to twenty-five couriers, volume that moves week to week, and no appetite for seat fees.

Frequently asked questions

What is courier routing software?

Courier routing software takes the day's delivery or pickup addresses and works out both halves of the dispatch problem: which courier takes which stops, and in what order each one drives them. That is the difference from a navigation app — Google Maps follows the order you type and caps you at about 10 waypoints, while routing software searches the possible orderings and returns the fastest one that still respects time windows, shift lengths, vehicle capacity and service time per stop. Around that engine it adds the operational layer: address import with geocoding, a courier app with navigation, live GPS tracking, proof of delivery and customer notifications.

Is courier routing software the same as courier route optimization software?

Yes — they are two names for the same category, and vendors use them interchangeably. "Routing" is the word operations people use when they think about assigning work across couriers; "route optimization" emphasises the solver that sequences the stops. What actually differs between products is the pricing model and whether multi-courier assignment is included or reserved for a higher tier. EfiRoute does both in one run on every plan, including the free one.

What is courier selection software?

The phrase is used two ways. Most often it means software that helps you choose which courier — which person on your team — should take a given set of stops, which is exactly what multi-courier assignment does: EfiRoute lets you pick the couriers on shift, then plans only around them, with each courier's own start point, hours and vehicle capacity respected. It is sometimes also used for carrier-rate shopping (comparing DHL, DPD, UPS prices per parcel), which is a different product category — EfiRoute routes your own couriers rather than brokering third-party carriers.

How much does courier routing software cost?

Most courier routing tools charge per driver — about $25–89 per courier per month — or sell monthly stop packages from $125 to $1,000. EfiRoute charges neither: it is free to start (3 projects a month, 2 couriers, $5 of credit, no credit card), then $29/month on Pro or $49/month on Business, plus $1 per courier included in each optimization run, with the monthly credit applied first. A five-courier operation planning every weekday is about $110/month; planning weekly it is about $20/month. The full market comparison is in our route optimization software pricing table.

Can couriers use their own phones?

Yes. The EfiRoute courier app is a free download for iOS and Android, and couriers sign in with credentials you issue — no company devices or MDM needed. There is also a native Apple Watch and Wear OS companion app for riders who cannot handle a phone at every stop. You are never charged per device or per installed app; the only variable in the bill is couriers per optimization run.

How many couriers and stops can one route cover?

Stops are not metered at all — 40 stops and 400 stops across the same couriers cost the same, because the price is per courier per optimization run. Plan limits are per project: up to 2 couriers on Free, 10 couriers and 500 stops on Pro, and 25 couriers with 1,000 stops on Business. Larger operations are handled on the Enterprise plan.

Do you support cash-on-delivery couriers?

Yes. Each stop carries a payment method (cash, card, pay later, pre-paid) and couriers record what they actually collected, in the currency they collected it in (CHF, EUR, TRY, USD by default). Corrections require a reason and leave an audit trail, and collected totals roll up per courier and per project in reports.
